About PTAG

The PTAG Mission Statement

Founded in 2001 by David Biber, Nancy Trun, Danielle Conway and Don Olson, the purpose of the Pittsburgh Trails Advocacy Group (PTAG) is to protect and encourage shared use trail access to the trails in Western Pennsylvania. We are especially concerned with single track trails used by mountain bikers, hikers and equestrians.

We will work with city, county, state and private landowners to ensure that all trails are approved by the landowner or landmanager and constructed and maintained to the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) standards, with minimal impact on the environment. We will work to educate all users on responsible trail use with the goal of fostering improved relations among landowners and all trail users.

PTAG is a not-for-profit, all volunteer organization

PTAG is a project of Bike Pittsburgh, a 501(c)3 charitable nonprofit organization working to transform Pittsburgh into a city that is increasingly safe, accessible, and friendly to bicycle transportation. PTAG is an all volunteer organization that relies on all trail users to volunteer some time to help keep their favorite local trails maintained and open to all users.
